Adam Fetterman Seeks Return to Florida House

Former state representative Adam Fetterman, a single-term Democrat from Port St. Lucie, is looking to return to Tallahassee in a new district that could favor the minority party.

Fetterman, an attorney who works for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, was knocked from office by the previously term-limited state Rep. Gayle Harrell, R-Stuart, in 2010.

He is now running for the Democratic nomination in District 84, which through the once-a-decade reapportionment process became an open seat that covers most of Port St. Lucie and Hutchinson Island in St. Lucie County.

Longtime Treasure Coast environmental activist Kevin Stinnette has also filed for the seat.

Michelle Miller, a Republican from Fort Pierce who owns an insurance agency, has also filed, as has former state representative and tea party member Art Argenio. Argenio, previously a Republican from Fort Pierce who challenged Rep. Debbie Mayfield, R-Vero Beach, in 2010, is now running as an independent for the seat.
