AFSCME Council 79 Backs Gelber for AG

Sen. Dan Gelber of North Miami Beach scored yet another big endorsement for his campaign for the Democratic attorney general nomination. Facing a close contest with Sen. Dave Aronberg of Greenacres, Gelber just announced he was being backed by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Florida Council 79, which represents more than 100,000 members.

“Dan Gelber’s impressive and extensive legal experience is why we need him as our next attorney general,” said AFSCME Council 79 President Jeanette Wynn. “Dan Gelber’s never-back-down attitude and record of cleaning up government and prosecuting violent gangs, scam artists and drug dealers are skills we need in our attorney general.”

“I am deeply thankful to have the support of AFSCME because we share the same principles of standing up for the hard-working people of our state,” said Gelber. “And as Florida’s next attorney general, I will work with the men and women of AFSCME to advance solutions that put the needs of working families and everyday Floridians first.”
