Alberto, First Storm of Hurricane Season, No Threat to Florida
Just as a reminder that the hurricane season officially begins on June 1 and that nature doesn’t follow the calendar, the season’s first named storm, Tropical Storm Alberto, has formed off Georgia.
The storm isn’t expected to impact Florida or even Georgia, other than to create some better surfing conditions. The National Hurricane Center forecasts the storm, with sustained winds of 40 mph at 5 a.m. Monday, will remain offshore, moving northeast into the open Atlantic.
