Allen West: No Tanks to Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood
U.S. Rep. Allen West says a planned sale of Abrams tanks to Egypt could play into the hands of radicals and further destabilize the region.
In a letter to Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon on Monday, West wrote:
"It has come to my attention that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress on July 1, 2011 of a possible foreign military sale to the government of Egypt for 125 M1A1 Abrams tank kits for coproduction and associated weapons, equipment, parts, training and logistical support.
"One of the greatest threats to Egyptian stability, as well as to regional stability, is the growing prospect of a new Egyptian government under the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood. If given control of the country, the Muslim Brotherhood would nominate its own candidates and turn Egypt into a radical Islamic state.
"America must continue to stand with the Egyptian people and encourage them to build their own democracy with new political parties and freedoms. However, we must exercise caution with regard to military sales and support to the Egyptian government until a government is formed absent of the radical elements of the Muslim Brotherhood that will maintain active peace with Israel," stated West, R-Plantation.
"As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I strongly oppose any military sales of any kind to the government of Egypt as long as the Muslim Brotherhood remains active in the political process. Doing so would seriously jeopardize the safety and security of the state of Israel. The last thing I want to see is Egyptian M1A1 tanks rolling through the Sinai toward Jerusalem."

while the U.S. has in past days assembled parts of tanks in Egypt, this has been an ongoing process with weapons and small arms since before the 1950's. The problem that was well put by Congressman Allen West is that the New Administration has no respect for the U.S. nor her allies. They are currently in bed deeply with the Muslim Brotherhood which Mr. Obama wants to do business with, this in itself is treason. These people are the aftermath of the PLO and have every desire to wipe Israel off the map and have so stated so. That is the problem with our current administration, so much for a clear, transparent administration. The lies continue to pile up. Mr. O has a war chest of over $ 25 Million that he is going to use to buy his presidency again. He is systematically destroying the U.S. that he was never proud to be a part of. If he was never proud to be a part of he should have left and Never taken part of our politics. If you don't like America leave it!

This would be devastating. Today, on MSNBC-Investments, I believe, there is an article that says the same: This report is a button over...on Money -Investments...
Report: US transport funds end up with Taliban
July 24, 2011 11:27 PM ET
WASHINGTON (AP) - Money from a multibillion-dollar U.S. transportation contract in Afghanistan has made its way into the hands of the Taliban, The Washington Post reported Sunday, citing an unreleased investigation by the U.S. military.
The Post said the probe found evidence of "involvement in a criminal enterprise or support of the enemy" by four of the eight companies contracted by the U.S. to provide transportation services in Afghanistan. It also said contractors were involved in money laundering, profiteering, kickbacks and fraudulent paperwork.
The newspaper said all eight of the companies are still working on the $2.16 billion contract, designed in part to promote Afghan businesses.
In one case, intelligence officials traced $3.3 million through a series of subcontractors, an Afghan National Police commander, and eventually to insurgents in the form of cash, weapons and explosives, the Post reported.
#117.1 - Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:07 PM PDT Why would this report be under msnbc Investments..., and who set up this situation, and who is responsible? The same thing would happen with these tanks, and then the report would say....just don't know how that happened!

It seems either you're horribly misinformed, or your politics has completely colored your national and world view.
Nice touch though, that love or leave it thing.

Great idea, Mr Obama. So, let me get this straight - Obama wants to send 40 BILLION Dollars to "help support the Arab Spring." This money is then to be used by the Muslim Brotherhood-run Egyptian Govt to purchase top-of-the-line US M1 Abrams tanks - you know, the ones none of the Russian crap could even dent in the Gulf War. Now, the Muslim Brotherhood will be able to have top quality weapons to attack Israel across the Sinai, if they choose to (running across the forces WE have there with the UN along the way), and the American People will have paid for it all. Thank you again, Mr Obama, Sir, and this brilliant Democratic Administration!

Yo Dude,
The US has been co-producing M1A1s in Egypt for the Egyptian Army since the late 1980s. They currently have about 1,000 tanks. These tanks, however, are not up-armored like those in the service of the United States.
The brilliance pre-dates this Administration. Further, the Egyptian Military, in addition to being held in relatively high regard by its US counterpart, has been, and likely will continue to be a stabilizing force against radicalization in Egypt.

"The brilliance pre-dates this Administration. "
Yeah - you know what else it pre-dates? The Muslim Brotherhood taking over the government there.
The moment the Brotherhood started taking a bigger role in the government, we should have immediately ceased all production of military equipment in Eqypt and all sale of same to their government. Any other president would have done just that.
