Beltway Republicans Rally Behind George LeMieux
Politico reported on Wednesday that 12 Republican U.S. senators -- including John McCain of Arizona, Susan Collins of Maine and Chuck Grassley of Iowa -- will be holding a fund-raiser for former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux later in the month.
LeMieux, who is running for the Republican nomination to take on U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., in 2012, won some accolades from his Senate colleagues, including GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, during his brief term in the Senate.
One of the other hosts for the event will be Scott Reed, the Republican strategist best known for leading Bob Dole’s campaign back in 1996.
