Bill Nelson Backs Out of CNN Debate with Connie Mack
“Polls are tightening and show Connie Mack within striking distance of Nelson, and his 12-year Senate record of supporting liberal policies from Obamacare to Cash for Clunkers, while gutting our nation’s military to pay for them. With a record which is 98 percent in lockstep with Barack Obama, it is no wonder Bill Nelson does not want to come before Florida voters and the nation to defend his failures in office. Even our presidential candidates are willing to do three debates," stated Mack's Deputy Campaign Manager David James.
While Mack has accepted at least six debate invitations, Nelson has accepted only one: a televised debate Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. from the campus of Nova Southeastern University, sponsored by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association.
Real Clear Politics poll averages show Nelson leading Mack in the Sunshine State, 47.2 percent to 38.8 percent.
