Claude Kirk to Lie in State Friday in the Old Capitol
Former Gov. Claude Kirk, who died at his West Palm Beach home on Wednesday, will lie in state Friday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in the Old Capitol in Tallahassee.
Kirk, 85, was Floridas first Republican governor since Reconstruction, serving from 1967 to 1971.
A processional, with Kirks family accompanying his body, is scheduled to arrive at 12:30 p.m. on the East Portico of the Old Capitol.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, 1 p.m., at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach. A private service will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations made be made in the governor's memory to The Everglades Foundation, 18001 Old Cutler Road, Suite 625, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157.
