Crist Signs Appraiser Regulation Bill

Well, Gov. Charlie Crist has not vetoed every Republican measure that passed the Legislature. Rep. Matt Hudson, R-Naples, backed a law requiring appraisal management companies to register with the state Department of Business and Professional Regulation and places them under the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. The bill passed and now has been signed by the governor.

“Creating the conditions to make the dream of home ownership a reality is critical to restoring consumer confidence and accelerating Florida’s economic rebound,” said Hudson, who works for a realty group.

“This new law will restore confidence in the housing market and promote integrity by setting professional standards in an industry that is currently unregulated,” he continued.  By doing so, consumers will be able to make sound choices, banks can make sound loans based on accurate information and, most importantly, Florida’s real estate market can continue to gain momentum.”
