Dan Gelber Encourages Charlie Crist to Embrace the Big ‘D’

As speculation grows that Florida’s former Republican/independent governor Charlie Crist slinks closer to taking the plunge into running again for the office, former state senator Dan Gelber isn’t waiting.

Gelber also argues for his party to “embrace Republicans and independent voters who are no longer comfortable with the GOP’s rigid and extreme dogma.”

“So, to Charlie or any other voter who feels the need to make a move, our tent is pretty big and can get somewhat raucous at times because we definitely don’t walk in lockstep. But if you want a Florida whose best days are ahead, then come on in and make yourself at home.

As a life-long Democrat, I can say that the Democratic party has the same kinds of challenges that the Republicans have - being taken over by extremists who seek to purify the partry frm those who oppose the extreme left wing agenda.

Having said that, Charlie Crist is far from the answer. He is not a Democrate and he is not a moderate. He is an opportunist, pandering politician, who will say anything to get elected. Democrats recruiting a self-professed "Jeb Bush Republican" screams of desperation. It's a bad idea.
