DOE Website Created to Help Florida Students Pick College

The Florida Department of Education unveiled a Web portal designed to help students as they decide on where and what to apply for at the state's public colleges by showing what they can get out of each campus and career programs.

The site doesn't included the state's public universities.

The Smart College Choices site provides rundowns of graduation rates, post-college employment statistics and potential earnings data from each of the 28 Florida College System institutions and Florida Public School District Career Centers.

“Florida’s future depends on a well-trained work force, and this tool will allow Floridians to spend their time and money wisely when deciding on a career path,” Florida College System Chancellor Randy Hanna stated in a release.

“We are proud of the robust data we have on learning outcomes and this portal shares that data with students so that they can use it to secure their future.”

The portal was created through legislation in the 2012 session.
