EXCLUSIVE: Sunshine to Interview Ted Yoho: What Should We Ask Him?

On Thursday morning, Sunshine State News will be interviewing Ted Yoho, Republican nominee for Florida's newly-created 3rd Congressional District; his primary victory last night over 24-year incumbent Cliff Stearns is being called one of the worst congressional upsets in Florida's history. {Check out yesterday's election-night coverage for the background.}

What hard-hitting questions would you, our readers, like us to ask Yoho? Leave your suggestions in the comments! Or, send them to egiunta@sunshinestatenews.com

Re. Off shore drilling:
1. Should there be different standards for oil vs natural gas?
2. Can anything be done to monitor or mitigate the Cuba-China drilling given the technology for horizontal drilling?
3. Can Florida be assured its share of revenue from production? and how much could that revenue be?

Mr. Giunta, I'm a regular reader of Sunshine News and have enjoyed reading your entries. I hope you will be a regular writer here. You add a dimension to your stories that I find interesting.

Florida has a very large contingent of military veterans. We routinely hear horror stories about the extraordinary time it takes to process service connected veterans disability claims. Every politician agrees this is unacceptable, but year after year, nothing ever changes. Will you personally take this issue on to help our disabled veterans and streamline the process, or simply throw your hands up in the air like all the others and conveniently blame it on and accept the typical government bureaucracy?

A lot of people ask about our laws defining immigration standards and procedures.
My question is; what should be done to change/improve the immigration system, the bureaucracy, which is charged with carring out those laws?

Given the divisive nature of congress and least productive legislative period since World War II, do you think there is any potential for a bipartisan domestic energy bill that would set targets for the next decade?

I voted for Mr. Yoho yesterday in the primary. One of the reasons I voted for him is because he answered the Abigale Adams survey I sent him which follows below. If you can come up with better questions, please ask them.

> 16. Have you read the "Road to Serfdom" by F.A. Hayek No, but I have read the New Road to Serfdom by Daniel Hannan
> 17. Please identify the top three issues that you feel are the most
> important to your potential constituents. 1.) Understanding that the form of Government we have and need to honor, serve and protect and rule by is a Constitutional Republic. 2.) National Security. 3.) Economy a.) grow jobs in private sector by 100% repeal, defund and bury obamacare b.) attack the regulatory process by restricting the power of administrative agencies and placing the power back to Congress. c.) Simplify our tax code with the Fair Tax but only if we repeal the 16th Amendment with its passage. d.) rebalancing the three branches of government.
> 18. If elected, how will you focus on these top three issues? Build coalitions with like minded representatives and start a movement to bring America back to its Core Values, Founding Principles and Follow the Constituition and but America first and not a political party. Have single item issues in bills no riders. All bills must pass a Constitutional litmus test before proceeding. Have Sunset Clauses attached to bills so they will automatically expire if not readdressed to see if they are still relevant. Listen to my Constituents of the 3rd district.
> 19. Please explain what you hope to accomplish if elected. 1.) Attitude adjustment to Congress/government. 2.) restore faith in government. 3.) bury obamacare and prevent garbage legislation from arising out of the bowels of Congress. 4.) reduce burdensome regulations, rules and mandates that are stifleing businesses and killing jobs and to reign in the power of those administrative agencies. 4.) work and vote to pass the Fair Tax.
> 20. Why do you feel you deserve the confidence of the voters? I am not doing this for a job and I do not want to be a career politician. This is for a cause to me and for love of Country that I have been preparing for the last 9 years. I have signed a pledge to serve no more than 8 years, to not take a pay raise for three years. In additiion, I, am a guy like the average voter/citizen who has had enough and will not sit on the sidelines and watch the continue decline of this country as it slides and turns into a socialistic society. I do not believe the others candidates have the passion for this country that I do nor do I feel they are as prepared as I am. Also, the other three are career politicians and it's the career politicians who have either created our problems or failed to prevent them and I find neither acceptable. That is why I feel I am the best choice.
> 21. If elected, how will you defend the Constitution of the United
> States of America and your State Constitution from all enemies,
> foreign and domestic? With my life, honor and fortunes.

1.Does Ted want to control our wives and daughters bodies with mandatory ultrasound, personhood laws and anti-choice laws or does he respect them and our settled law (ie. Roe v. Wade)
2. Will Ted pledge allegance to Grover"the puppeteer" Norquist or will he have the guts to raise taxes on the wealthy when needed?

How can you achieve committee chairmanship and equal the influence that long-term service gave Rep. Stearns as Chairman of the Energy Committee?
Rob
3:23PM AUG 15TH 2012
Stearns is not the chair of the Energy Committee. He is Chairman of Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. I don't know how you go 24 years in Congress as a backbencher but there you go.
