Florida House to Decide Fine for Hasner's Late Paperwork

House Speaker Dean Cannon will have to decide if former state Rep. Adam Hasner faces anyfine for failing to file his 2009 financial disclosure form in a timely manner.

The state Commission on Ethics on Friday accepted, with little comment, a staff report that Hasner, a Republican from Delray Beach, was late in handing inhis personalfinancial paperwork.

The committee can only accept or reject its staff work.Cannon must decide if the House should vote upon a fine for Hasner.

Hasner, who left the House in 2010, did not attend the morning hearing.

He is currently seeking the GOP nomination to challenge U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., in 2012.

Hasner has said he did not realize the disclosure form wasrequired within 60 days of leaving office.

He submitted the paperwork after Diana Demarest, a one-time secretary of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party, filed a complaint.

Demarest expressed displeasure in the committees finding to the Palm Beach Post.
