Florida Retail Federation Wades Into Legislative Contests

On Monday, the Florida Retail Federation (FRF) unveiled its endorsements for the Legislature, wading into some hotly contested races but also backing incumbents who look like locks to return to Tallahassee.

“These individuals will be a strong voice for Florida’s retailers and the citizens of our state, and we are proud to endorse them,” insisted Randy Miller, the executive vice president of the FRF. “Our mission is to promote legislative policies that will have a positive impact on the retail industry, one of Florida’s top job creating industries. Voters can be confident that these candidates will help our state economy grow and create more jobs for the people of Florida.”

The FRF backed Rep. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, over former Polk County Commissioner Jack Myers and businessman Ron Rushing in a competitive Republican primary for an open state Senate seat. House Speaker Pro Tempore John Legg, R-Port Richey, got FRF’s blessing over former Rep. Rob Wallace and security consultant John Kormack. The FRF backed House Democratic Leader Ron Saunders, D-Key West, in his bid to move over to the Senate and backed Mack Bernard over Jeff Clements in a battle between two House Democrats for a Senate seat.
