An analysis on the economic impact of Amendment 4 released by Florida TaxWatch Thursday reveals that if adopted, it could cost Florida 260,000 jobs per year.

Also lost by the amendment supported by the Hometown Democracy movement, which pushed Amendment 4 as a way to let voters decide on land-use changes, would be $21.6 billion in gross state product, $16.7 billion in personal income, $2.2 billion in state tax revenue and $227 million in property taxes. The subsequent rise in taxes to pay for the lost revenue, plus the cost of special elections and litigation costs that will inevitably result from disputed development projects, means the amendment should be voted down at all costs, Florida TaxWatch officials said.
