Funeral Director Southerland Burying Boyd in CD 2 -- Poll

A new poll shows Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, in deep trouble in Florida's 2nd Congressional District.

Republican Steve Southerland leads Boyd by a whopping 56-30 in a survey released today by P.M.I., Inc., a polling firm out of Marianna.

Two other conservative NPA candidates, Paul McKain and Dianne Berryhill, garnered 8 percent and 6 percent respectively, according to the survey of 1,224 likely voters in the North Florida district.

Based on these results, pollster Jerry Dorchuck said the theme of this race could be "Bye-bye, Boyd-ie."

Smelling blood, the National Republican Congressional Committee added Boyd's district to its list of 45 targeted congressional races, and an alliance of four GOP groups, including one headed by Karl Rove, is also sending cash to Southerland's campaign.
