Government Shutdown 2011 Avoided After Obama Signs Bill

Various outlets are reporting President Barack Obama has signed the House bill that will keep the federal government funded for two more weeks, temporarily avoiding a shutdown. The bill, approved by the Senate earlier Wednesday by a 91-9 vote, cuts $4 billion from the two-week budget and puts the Republican-led House in a strong position to get more of the cuts they're looking for as they seek to rein in spending.

Unless they can figure out a long-term solution, lawmakers will be facing another shutdown after March 18.
