Grayson Poll Shows There's Room for 'Others' in CD 8 Race

An internal poll conducted for Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, shows him leading the 8th Congressional District field with 40 percent of the vote.

Republican nominee Daniel Webster had 27 percent while "others" pulled 23 percent in the survey. Eleven percent were undecided.

The "others" included Florida TEA Party's Peg Dunmire, No Party Affiliation candidate George Metcalfe, and Florida Whig Party hopeful Steve Gerritzen, who is running as a write-in.

If accurate (you might be wondering about that 101 percent total), the survey suggests Webster, a former state Senate president who easily won a seven-way primary and has the backing of his six former GOP rivals, is underperforming in a district that is roughly split in thirds -- Democrat, Republican and independent.

The splintered results prompted the Independent Political Report to declare, "Dunmire still appears to have the potential to capitalize on Republican discontent."

I have been a Republican my whole life and I am voting and supporting Peg Dunmire. The only reason other people I know support Dan Webster is because of his social issues but what about his fiscal issues? On the FL Tea Party website, the Principles are political integrity, fiscal responsibility, and less govt. I like that!!

Grayson is such a loser! He put out a poll that shows 60% of those who responded won't vote for him! Dunmire is gonna clean up, Webster is just another bum who sat in office and watched as Rome burned. Vote Dunmire!

I'm so sick of the 2 major parties, we have to do something different. The Repulicrats only care about staying in power, and will do anything it takes. Like spreading lies about Peg Dunmire, and trying to send their army of lawyers to bog them down in paperwork. Thats all it is , is paperwork because the court has ruled with the Tea Party in every case thats been heard. "This to shall pass" and the voice of reason will prevail. Vote Tea!

Diane, A candidate doesn't have to be curt and confrontational like Dunmire or crude like her parties financial backer Al Grayson. We in the 8th District need a representative like Dan Webster, knowledgeable, courteous and respectful of the constituents of the district. I see the underhanded shady character traits of Guetzloe have rubbed of Dunmire. Don't split hairs as to whether or not the money paid to Guetzloe and one of his candidates was payment for services rendered or payment to their fake party with the hijacked name. No matter what you call it, it's Grayson financially backing the Dunmire party. Wonder what her cut will be?

If you have evidence of these alledged payoffs by Grayson I assume you would bring them forward.

Since you apparently just engage in character assassination with no foundation to back up any of your wild statements, your credibility Richard, is non-existent.

I have known Doug since Teen Age Republicans and he's a hard-working, honest and extremely principled individual - probaby someone you've never even met. Doug and Fred have helped taxpayers save billions, with a B, in taxes. I know nothing about you other than your dribble and character assassination attempts.

When you've worked for 30 years to save taxpayer dollars; been prosecuted and persecuted by a corrupt state attorney, put your life on the line for Freedom and Patriotism, then you can come back an put your thoughts out there. Until then your name is Mudd.

Marie DuBoise - Peg does not have to tell you wich group she is a member of and she did not ask the Tea Party movement to endorse her. Why are you all so willing to back Webster when he is just another politcal machine. They ask him to run - he said NO - then when they knew there was no other "grassroots" candidate "they" thought could defest Grayson they went crawling back to Webster. He is a Politician - aanyone in office for 30 years is, no matter their party. He is for rail, he is for spending, go check his 30 year voting record. Just because Jeb Bush endorses him does not make his record any different.

All the Dist 8 candidates ran to cover for Webster, but where was he during the Primary run - 1 function he showed up to. You listen to the viedo and he is so weak and he really has no answers to what is going on in DC. He will go up there, with his 30 years of experience and say yes sir and yes ma"am and not do a thing for this state. He had no idea to take care of unemployment or restore the economy. What is wrong with you people that you are following the RPOF like a bunch of puppydogs? You have fed and festered on lies for months as if you were writing stories for the National Enquirer -

Give us all a call when the RPOF and the rest of the party set the screws to you all!

Tom T I am sick of hearing your lies. For once be a man of character and state facts instead of lies. You say Grayson gave money to the TEA Party, NO he did not! The RPOF is backing you and Jason H. You're the ones that are taking money and trying to capitalize on the Tea Party Movement. You're the ones trying to confuse the public. You're the ones who continue to spread lies. You're the ones trying to affect the political outcome of this race.
This is America land of the free. We are free to run as candidates and thank GOD for Peg Dunmire! She has more courage, guts, values, integrity and intelligence than you can dream of! She does not hide behind lies! She does not take money from special groups! She puts her own money up and is waging a battle. GO PEG!!
Tea Party Movement members it is time to stop the little minds and big mouths of Tom T and Jason H. When did you elect them to speak for you? Tom T, Jason H, and the RPOF recognize Peg Dunmire is a viable candidate. Why else would the RPOF designate 2 million dollars to try to defeat the TEA Party? Now, I can't prove that amount but that is the rumor on the street. We know the RPOF is behind the law suits! What is a shame is that the RPOF courted Webster in the final months of the primary and asked him to officially run. Talk about a slap in the face for all the Tea Party Movement candidates who waged a race for over a year. It is sad they all bowed to the pressure of the RPOF and backed the career politician, a person who is not a tea party movement person. The only standing candidate that is part of the tea party movement is Peg Dunmire! Tea movement followers it is time to change this country. Let's start in Florida by electing Peg Dunmire! Get involved, volunteer, support her any way you can. The battle cry has sounded! Take up your arms, march to the polls November 2nd and VOTE PEG DUNMIRE (TEA).

Well, for starters, I’d like to thank Diane and Heinie for asserting that the Dunmire-funded by Grayson rumor is false, and that her money has come from her pension plan and fund raising. This was proven months ago, but is kept alive by the terrified Republicans. As long as they can keep the story out there, and as long as there are people who believe everything they see on the news, deceit is the weapon they have on Peg. Not enough reporters are fact-checking or investigating the matter.... so we have this mess. Peg is part of the beginning of something big, where the goal is to replace the republican vote, not split it. Tea is on the rise because many believe the elephant is an un-repairable machine, and as someone stated earlier theres that 70% of American who have lost faith in the 2 party system. The other call for the Tea is that too many Republicans are career politicians and campaigning under one slogan, then doing something completely different. Dunmire is in there to win, and she’s being heard, as the debates progress, the FL Tea party will gain its audience. Too many voters just know they’re conservative and vote for whoever the R is, but when Florida (America) hears Peg and Tea parties speaking their language and campaigning for the change conservatives want, votes will ensue. Whether it be this election or the next. Like I said, this is the beginning. And if more people listen to Dunmire with an open mind, things might really get rolling

Dunmire is nothing but a shill being used by Grayson to split the conservative/independent vote in order to insure his re-election. Dunmire is merely a Grayson supporter in disguise. Don't be fooled by this fake tea party candidate! This type of Chicanery is Grayson's forte. The Tea Party "Movement," which came before the Tea Party "Party," does NOT support Dunmire. The TP "Party" hijacked the Tea Party name and is now using it to confuse the voters. Don't let them get away with it! Vote for conservative Dan Webster. If you are concerned about the mounting national debt and our diminishing liberty, a vote for Dan Webster will be a vote to put the brakes on the Obama administration's destructive policies. Dan will fight to return control of the government to the people and to dramatically reduce its influence on our lives and our liberty.

Dan Webster is an entrenched professional politican who is PRO-TAX AND PRO-RAIL.
60% of the vote went against Webster in the primary, even more oppose him now.

An "internal poll" huh? Disagrees with my "internal poll" that Alan Grayson is leading by 51% for buffoon of the state, and that 73% of all voters are convinced that 1/3 of all people who left Fl in the last few years only did so because he was their representative. If you are interested, I got those numbers from the same place DisGrayson did: OOMB.

Lets get real here. Grayson is so scared of Webster, and the vast majority of people in this state, that he is making up stories. (That is a really polite way of saying that he is lying through his nasty teeth?) He has put out lies about Webster, and now he has to make up "internal polls" to make it seem like he has a snow ball's chance. If he weren't such a despicable character, I might almost feel sorry for his patheticness.

I will be donating to Grayson. I will make calls for him and do whatever I can to help the democrats keep the majority. From the disaster they faced at the beginning of Obama's administration and added to that the Republican 'say no and just complain, incite fear and anger, and do nothing' strategy I think they need more time to get things on track. I'm not willing to hand back power to a party that seems to get everything wrong and constantly increases the disparity between rich and poor. I have no faith that republicans will make anything better for working americans. Give the democrats more time and kick the repbulicans in the butt and tell them to stop 'just saying no'.

Grayson can say what he wants, put out touchy freely adds, and try to snow the voters of the district again, but try as he will the voters now know the real Grayson. He has revealed the ugly person he is and the voters are ashamed of his non-representation. He has already defeated himself. Dan Webster will bring respect and reason to the Congressional office come November.

All of this talk about Peg the "Tea Party" candidate is making my head spin. There is NO Tea Party political party and for anyone to use that name tells it all. Tell me which grassroots Tea Party group is Peg affiliated with and which ones endorse her...I didn't think so. She hijacked the name to catch the wave and in November we will all show her what we think of that. The true conservative in this race is Daniel Webster and we need stand behind him or live with Alan Grayson for another term of embarrassment in Central Florida.

The decision in November between Alan Grayson (Democrat incumbent) and Daniel Webster as the Republican representative of the 8th Congressional district of FL will be up to the voters of the district. The other candidates are not viable. The grassroots movement across this great nation is alive and strong and in the end will trounce all the efforts by wealthy politicians and lobbyists to return Alan Grayson to Washington to continue the destruction of the U.S. economy. America, for the past 2 years we have given up our freedom to the Federal government in exchange for an uncertain future weighed down by debt. The Feds are deciding matters that affect us and for which our voices are not being heard, our elected representatives are ignoring the very people they are supposed to represent. It's time to send Daniel Webster to Congress as the voice of the people 8th Congressional district of FL. Make your voice and your vote count, remove Alan Grayson from office. Our future and that of our children rests in your hands, make the right decision on November 2, I trust you will.

Let the Grayson games begin. He will try behind the scenes to prop up Dunmire, demonize Webster, and work every sleazy angle he can think of to retain his seat. How pathetic. Everyone knows he has mental problems, is arrogant beyond belief to his constituents, and needs to be replaced by a solid candidate with all-American values, someone with plans to help the economy and Florida's 8th district (just look at Daniel Webster's website!), and an experienced person of character with a real desire to serve the people.

Heinie, You know Peg has to speak in front of people to get elected and when she does she comes off confrontational, all she does is parrots her handler Doug Guetzloe. This group of the fringe political players doesn't even have the imagination to come up with an original name or slogans for their party. They have to hijack a name from a legitimate movement. These third party candidates are third party because they couldn't make it otherwise. Just take a look at rick r's links to Dunmire and you'll see what I mean. Dan Websters win was a real triumph, he was up against six solid conservative candidates. All these candidates were willing to go head to head and let the voters decide who they wanted to represent them in the General election. These third party candidates, especially Dunmire who dropped out of the Republican party after a disastrous Icaucus interview, have about as much chance to win the General as my pet rock.

Richard you're last prediction was an overwhelming victory for the wingnut Patricia Sullivan.
Boy she fell faster than a rock in water for the pro-tax/anti-tea candidate Webster.
Peg Dunmire is a true patriot unlike you and the so-called loser patriot army.
Tea Party was a brilliant move and you wet your pants everytime you see it.
Well get used to it. As your little 'movement' group dies it's slow death, the tea party will be the only organized party left standing tall and strong.
Webster beating a collection of nutcases was no strong win. Sullivan the Witch; Fanelli the Lush; O'Donoghue The Tax Cheat; Todd Long... well you know. Real strong field.
Dunmire wins in November and you lose... again.

I want someone to please show me why the GOP deserves your vote. The people who don't vote Republican is because they don't believe the GOP has real solutions, and who can blame them! Republicans and Democrats have been derelict in their duty of upholding the constitution for years now, they both have to go. 70% of Americans believe the 2 party system is broken, is there any wonder why Peg Dunmire is polling so well. The Tea Party is on the verge of becoming the new majority, all the haters will soon fade away.

the only reason i can think of is this: the alternative (major party) is so destructive, so devastating to our country and our future. for NOW, we owe it to our kids to vote for WHOEVER will stop them. whoever has the best chance. now, we can argue for purity. and we can argue that in the process of achieving purity if we lose a few, let the dem win, while splitting the reasonable grown-ups, and thereby losing, we are making a statement. or whatever. right now, at this point in history, unfortunately we MUST stop the destroyers. thats my philosphy. i underatand the purtiy/principle/if we all just did it then it wouldn't be an issue arguments. the dems are just too dangerous right now. let's do the purity thing in 2014, 'k? dems should be about the whigs by then. hell, their policies are only accpeted by 25% now. and thats gotta go down.

Raul my neighbor. Keep in mind that the Repubs in DC were NEVER invited to participate behind the closed doors of the Democrat DC machine meetings. You cannot put forth any viable or practical solutions to those conniving (and connive they did) and hiding like the cowards they proved themselves to be. Voting for a "party" is not the way to decide anyway. Just look at the people that are supporting each candidate. If you would like to spend time with them around a dinner table and share similar thoughts, then perhaps that candidate is for you. If their behavior is abhorent to you: ie, Dunmire, Goetzloe and the relationship to disGrayson and his money, then she/he is not the one for you. My decision is based on the fact that I supported a grass roots candidate in the Rep. primary who had the guts to stick her neck out there and confront Grayson, expressing the very views I hold dear. Her common sense and intelligence, her love of America and disgust with the way it is being "ruled" from the oval office cronies mimics my thoughts. She and all the others in the Repub. primary will be supporting Dan Webster because he too thinks like the rest of us who love our country, hate the lying rhetoric coming from DC daily, and especially are sick and tired of the despot we have who does NOT represent us. Food for thought

TomT—I no longer believe that you write what is in you heart. Your incessant negative statements about Peg Dunmire, and the TEA Party, can no longer be given one iota of credence. It is so obvious that you are scared to death, not that Peg will split the vote, but rather that she will win. You are right to be very afraid. With debates still to occur, eight weeks to go, only one genuine conservative in the race, disgruntled republicans and democrats, the mood of “out with incumbents and career politicians”, her current polling status before the debates, and other factors soon to come into play, Peg will get more votes than Mr. Webster, making HIM the vote-splitter, not her. If you really want Grayson out, then you should join the soon-to-be majority and vote for Peg, the TEA Party candidate. I know her very well now, and she will make a great Congresswoman, and possibly more. She is exactly what true Patriots are looking for.

Rick R - I thank you for your posting and you are absolutely correct in all counts. The Tillison/Hoyt group still will not admit that Grayson did not give that money to Peg Dunmire or the Florida TEA Party - that money came from her pension plan and she can prove it. Can they prove what they are saying - NO! They cannot admit they are wrong just because they do not like the TEA party name and have slandered Ms. Dunmire at every turn - even trying to stop her from advertising her campaign. My question is - if Ms. Dunmire is such a bad candidate then what are they so afraid of including the RPOF who have funded all these lawsuits. Real class!

There you go again, Ken! LOL

D8 is NOT split into "thirds" - this poll is just the latest example of Alan Grayson trying to prop up Peg Dunmire to help his re-election bid. Which also explains why Grayson's campaign has given close to $40,000 to individuals associated with the TEA Party political party.

Anyone who takes this 'internal poll' seriously has never met Dunmire. She would not get 23% if her name was the only name on the ballot!

We are so incredibly honored to have someone with TomT's vast political experience and wealth of knowledge opinning on the difficult nuances of political pundancy. Thank the Almighty!

Of course, once we step out of the fantasy land of TomT and JasonH we return to the political reality of real politics. The 8th Congressional district is indeed split into 3rds with the GOP barely running ahead of indies and NPA's. Webster's embarrasing primary results with 60% of the voters saying no to Webster has given dramatic rise to the Dunmire candidacy.

PPP has been recognized as the "most accurate" polling firm in the nation. This survey joins a dozen other survey's - professional and internet - that all show Dunmire second only to Grayson.
Given the margin of error on the PPP survey, Dunmire could very well be ahead of Webster in that one also.

The RPOF and NRCC - those bastions of corrupt GOP totalitariansim - have done numerous polls yet they have released nary a one. Why? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Mr. Tillison represents all of two opinions - his and Mr. Hoyt - both irrelevant in the political world.
The TEA Party is a jugernaunt toward the November election. And as for Ms. Dunmire speaking check these two out:
