Heartland Institute: Rick Scott now Shares the Blame on Energy Bill
The Heartland Institute, which was among the groups that unsuccessfully called for Gov. Rick Scott to veto Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam’s energy bill, released the following comment:
“Regardless, as someone who personally admires Governor Scott and wholeheartedly believes he puts Florida before politics (unlike his predecessor), it is difficult to admit that he now unfortunately shares some of the blame along with Commissioner Putnam, Representative Plakon and their special-interest friends for preserving Florida's high utility rates,” stated Heartland spokeswoman Christian Cámara.
“Using government to foist expensive, unreliable energy sources on residents and businesses instead of allowing the market to organically develop cheap and abundant energy will do nothing to grow Florida's economy."
Scott allowed the bill, HB 7117, to become law without his signature on Friday, releasing a statement that he had mixed feelings on the pro-business legislation.
