Hukill Proposes Refund Program for Space, Defense Businesses
Sen. Dorothy Hukill, R-Port Orange, has filed a bill, Senate Bill 236, intended to stimulate job growth by providing tax refunds to businesses that create new, high-demand, high-wage, and high-value jobs.
SB 236 would offer tax refunds through the Qualified Targeted Industries and Qualified Defense Contract programs to space- and defense-related businesses that create high-wage jobs.
Throughout my time in the Legislature, I have worked hard to remove barriers to job creation and to help create an environment where new and current businesses have the opportunity to grow and expand in Florida, Hukill stated in a release.
With this bill we hope to see continued private-sector job growth, which will getFloridians back to work in the types of jobs and industries that will keep Florida competitive in the global economy.
Businesses would only be eligible for the tax breaks after the jobs are created. Also, the refund cant exceed any amount the company was paying in taxes.
