Joe Biden Friend/Donor Gets $20 Million Taxpayer Loan to Build Ukraine Porsche Dealership

The Daily Caller tells a fascinating story:

In late July, John Hynansky — a longtime friend of Vice President Joe Biden, and a major donor to Biden’s campaigns as well as President Barack Obama’s — was awarded a $20 million taxpayer loan to build a foreign-car dealership in Ukraine.

Here's the rub: According to a public summary document, the loan, from the federal government’s Overseas Private Investment Corp., is for “[u]p to $20 million,” and is designed to “expand Winner Import Ukraine’s automobile business, [and] construct and operate ‘Winner Autocity,’ which will have two new, state-of-the-art dealership facilities for Porsche and Land Rover/Jaguar automobiles.” ...

Since at least 1999, Hynansky and his family have been regular donors to Biden’s campaigns, and, later, Obama’s.

Interestingly, Media Matters is calling this claim by Fox & Friends, the Daily Caller, the Drudge Report, and now repeated in Sunshine State News, a lie. You know the phrase "Private Investment" in OPIC's name should have been a clue to most journalists.

Media Matter indicates "the loan comes from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, which does not use taxpayer funds, and exists for the purpose of helping "U.S. businesses gain footholds in emerging markets" overseas. . . .OPIC "operates on a self-sustaining basis at no net cost to American taxpayers" and has actually reduced the federal budget deficit for 34 consecutive years". According to its website, OPIC mobilizes PRIVATE CAPITAL to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy.

It appears, once again, Nancy may have jumped the gun (and the facts) just like she did with Susan Bucher and the Wellington voting problems. Nancy must love that almost 68% to 28% margin of victory for Ms. Bucher.

Yes, the Daily Caller tells a fascinating story . . . and much like Michele Bachmann's claim of a Muslim Brotherhood connection to a Clinton aide, it now appears that the Daily Caller's claim is false when the facts are all laid out in public and consists of character assassination by association. The Daily Caller presents no evidence of Biden's infliuence in this decision made outside of taxpayer funds.

More right-wing, partial facts spun into politics of the "Big Lie".
