Marco Rubio Headed to U.S. Senate
That was quick! At 8 p.m., just as the polls closed on the Panhandle, there was a winner declared in Florida. Former House Speaker Marco Rubio was declared winner of the U.S. Senate race -- defeating Gov. Charlie Crist, who was running with no party affiliation, and Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek. With 35 percent of the vote in, Rubio took 50 percent while Crist took 29 percent and Meek lagged in third with 20 percent.
