Mike Lee Backs Connie Mack to Challenge Bill Nelson

On Monday, Utah Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, a darling of the tea party movement for defeating longtime incumbent Bob Bennett back in 2010, announced that he was backing U.S. Rep. Connie Mack for the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

“Connie Mack’s fight to protect our constitutional freedoms and cut the size and scope of the federal government has been a hallmark of his service to the people of Florida,” Lee said.“Having Connie’s voice in the U.S. Senate will greatly enhance our ability to not only stop Harry Reid and Bill Nelson’s liberal agenda, but to return our nation to a path of constitutionally limited government, more individual liberty, and greater prosperity."

“There is a growing movement in the U.S. Senate to protect the Constitution and the fiscal integrity of the United States,” Mack said. “Senator Lee’s leadership in that fight is one I admire deeply, and I am honored to have his endorsement.  I look forward to the opportunity to stand with Senator Lee and other like-minded conservatives in our fight for freedom and prosperity in the United States Senate.”

Yes, perhaps Connie Mack will address whether he supports Senator Lee's many controversal efforts, such as raising the retirement age for Social Security eligibility, eliminating Medicare by 2017, abolishing the 14th amendment and the like.

Yes, Floridians would like to know which of the Florida-toxic Tea Party positions Connie Mack actually shares with Senator Lee.
