Mitt Romney's Team Calls on Anitere Flores After NALEO Speech

After Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, offered an address in Orlando to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) hammering President Barack Obama on the economy and immigration, his team called on a Republican state legislator to go bat for them.

State Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami, praised Romney after the speech and ripped into Obama on Thursday.

“By failing to make the economy and jobs his top priority, President Obama has broken his promise to the Hispanic community,” Flores said. “With the threat of Obamacare, higher taxes, and more red tape lingering over an already abysmal climate for small businesses to operate in, it's no wonder Hispanics are among the hardest hit by the president's policies. We need new leadership in Washington who will help give Hispanics the tools needed to start businesses, find jobs, and give our children the chance to live a better life. Mitt Romney will turn the economy around, get jobs growing again, and help lift the Hispanic community out of the depths of President Obama's economic disaster.”

Flores continues to rank as one of the GOP’s rising stars in the Sunshine State -- and clearly she’s made an impression with the Romney camp. It’ll be interesting to see how the Romney campaign will utilize Flores as they continue to focus on winning Florida back in November.

There seemed to be predictable soundbites at the ready from both Republicans and Democrats after each of the presidential hopefuls spoke. Predictable along partisan lines. And that serves nobody. I wrote a blog on the matter at Political Cortadito: Partisan leadership strips us of our Latino vote power. Welcome thoughts.

Yes, all Hispanics are onboard the Romney Etch-a-Sketch busmobile, judging from the quiet polite applause he received after his speech.
