N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg Endorses Obama

He said he was going to stay completely out of the presidential race, but New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg -- his city still partially submerged, without power and facing a rising death toll from Hurricane Sandy -- has endorsed President Obama.

According to Politico, he did it "via the Twitters":

@BloombergTV: BREAKING: Mayor @MikeBloomberg endorses @BarackObama for re-election

What Bloomberg is doing is making climate change -- one of his own top issues -- a major issue for the president of the United States, too. (If you think this Bloomberg issue comes out of the blue, think again.)

Said Politico on Thursday, "Bloomberg has been critical of Obama in the past, and declined to have Obama come visit New York - he went to New Jersey instead. But as the endorsement makes clear, that was not a diss. And the endorsement of the mayor, a business leader, is one that Obama and Mitt Romney had both sought."

Bloomberg explains his case on his political website.
