Pam Bondi: SUR-13 Member Gets Life Sentence for Murder

Daniel “Boom” Robledo, who faces charges associated with the state attorney’s office crackdown on the SUR-13 street gang, received a life sentence Monday for the second-degree murder of a Manatee County man.

Robledo will return to the courtroom in November to face racketeering charges and three counts of armed robbery.

“This man is the fourth SUR-13 gang member sentenced to prison in recent months,” Attorney General Pam Bondi stated in a release.

“He deserves to spend his life behind bars, and I commend the Office of Statewide Prosecution for helping rid Florida’s communities of violent gang activity.”

In April, three members of the SUR-13 street gang each received nearly a half-century in sentences in a Palm Beach County courtroom after accepting plea agreements.

Robledo, 26, was convicted in March of killing Elvis Ruiz, 27, with a shotgun during a street fight that an unarmed Ruiz had tried to stop in July 2011.
