Rick Scott Appoints Crum Interim Sheriff in Wakulla
Donnie W. Crum was appointed interim sheriff of Wakulla County by Gov. Rick Scott Thursday.
Crum, who has said he will not seek re-election to the office before the term expires in Jan. 7, 2013, replaces Sheriff David Harvey who officially steps down Oct. 1 in his ninth term as sheriff.
Harvey has taken the job of executive director with the Florida sheriffs Risk Management Fund.
According to the release from the governor's office:
Crum, 62, of Panacea, has been the chief deputy at the Wakulla County sheriffs office since 1988. Previously, he was a special agent for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement from 1985 to 1988. From November 2008 to January 2009, Crum was appointed to serve as interim sheriff of Wakulla County.
He has been a member of the Florida Intelligence Unit since 1981 and attended the Lively Law Enforcement Academy and Gulf Coast Junior College.
Crum succeeds Sheriff David Harvey and is appointed for a term beginning Oct. 1, 2011, and ending Jan. 7, 2013.
