Rick Scott in Miami for Start of Hurricane Season

Gov. Rick Scott will be in Miami to mark the start of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season.

Scott will take part in a hurricane preparedness, disaster-supply-kit event at a Home Depot store, visit the National Hurricane Center, and tour the Southland Mall in Miami -- at each promoting the state’s readiness and the need for Floridians to be prepared for hurricane season.

The hurricane season, from June 1 to November 30, is "predicted" by experts to be somewhat normal, which would mean anywhere from nine to 15 tropical storms, with as many as four to eight of those becoming hurricanes. There have already been two named storms, Alberto and Beryl.
