Rick Scott to Promote 'Back-to-School' Sales Tax Holiday in Lauderhill

Gov. Rick Scott will be in Lauderhill on Friday to promote the three-day 'Back-to-School' sales tax holiday that begins Friday.

Scott will be at Staples, 7500 West Commercial Blvd. in Lauderhill around 11:30 a.m. before heading down the street to the Children’s Services Council of Broward County for a school supply drop.

The three-day event begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at midnight Sunday.

The legislatively approved tax cut, estimated to save shoppers $32 million, is a chance to shop for designated school necessities priced individually up to $75 without having to pay state or local option sales taxes. School supplies, such as binders and notepads, must be $15 or less.
