Scott: 'I'm Not Endorsing a Candidate'

Drawing on past experience, Gov. Rick Scott said he isn’t going to make an endorsement prior to the Florida Presidential Preference Primary on Jan. 31.

“I’m not endorsing a candidate,” Scott responded when asked to make a prediction in the primary during a meeting with members of the Florida Retail Federation at the Hotel Duval in Tallahassee on Thursday.

Scott then referred to the polls -- noting former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was at the moment ahead -- instead of making a prediction.

He added that he has talked to the GOP candidates and is only giving them advice. And that advice is that the core of supporters -- for him in 2010 it was the tea party -- is important.

Scott also provided a little insight into his view of endorsements.

“As you all know, when I ran everybody endorsed me,” Scott joked about his initial lack of outside political support when he undertook his 2010 campaign.

Scott had previously said he would have to consider a candidate’s jobs plans when considering an endorsement.

Good job Gov. Scott!
There was no upside in endorsing a candidate.
