Scott Names Jontz to Statewide Nominating Commission

Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Jeffry R. Jontz, an attorney with Swann, Hadley, Stump, Dietrich and Spears, to the Statewide Nominating Commission.

The commission reviews the conduct of existing compensation claims judges and submits names for the governor to appoint.

According to a release from the governor’s office:

“Jontz, 67, of Winter Park, has been an attorney with Swann, Hadley, Stump, Dietrich and Spears PA since 2005.

“Previously, he practiced with Carlton Fields from 1996 to 2005. He served as an assistant United States attorney for the Middle District of Florida from 1972 to 1974.

“In addition to his community service on the boards of directors of the Florida Symphony Orchestra and Junior Achievement of Central Florida, he has served as chair of the city of Maitland’s Code Enforcement Board and the city of Winter Park’s Board of Adjustments. Jontz received a bachelor’s degree from Drake University and a law degree from the University of Iowa.

“He succeeds David Beyer and is appointed for a term beginning Jan. 20, 2012, and ending July 1, 2013.”
