Gov. Scott to Sign Bill Helping Space Florida Access Dollars
Gov. Rick Scott will sign a bill expected to make it easier for Space Florida to access state and federal transportation money to improve launch facilities.
A ceremony for the signing of Senate Bill 634, sponsored by Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, and Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the governor’s office.
Scott has proposed $15 million in state transportation money for spaceport infrastructure improvements.
The Florida Chamber, which has included spaceport facilities as a priority for the session, has estimated the space industry generated $17.8 billion a year in economic impact across Florida.
