South Florida Democrats Call on Allen West to Concede
South Florida Congressional Democrats say it’s time for U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Palm Beach Gardens, to concede as St. Lucie County Circuit Judge Dan Vaughn has rejected West's request to have all early votes rerun through tabulating machines.
“The people of the 18th Congressional District have spoken, and it is time that Allen West concede the election,” wrote Reps. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens, Lois Frankel, D-West Palm Beach, and Joe Garcia, D-Miami.
“West’s refusal to recognize the democratic will of the people and his continued political games are wasting the taxpayers’ time and money, as well as taking away from the real issues that need to be addressed for the people of the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches.
“All votes in this election have been counted fairly and accurately, and Allen West has lost beyond the mandatory recount range. Floridians are ready for their newly elected representative, Patrick Murphy, to get to work in Washington. Instead of more costly political stunts and lawsuits, Allen West needs to admit defeat and move on.”
