Speaker in Waiting Chris Dorworth
Earlier this afternoon, state Rep. Eric Fresen, R-Miami, pulled out of the contest to be the leader of the Republican House conference for the 2014-2016 legislative session. This means that state Rep. Chris Dorworth, R-Lake Mary, is going to be state House Speaker in four years.
Yes, you read that right. Florida now has a House Speaker waiting in the wings for four years down the road.
Dorworth serves as Vice-Chairman of the Utilities & Telecommunications Committee and on the Jobs & Entrepreneurship Council. Having served as chairman of the Seminole Soil & Water Conservation District, Dorworth will be a key player in the House when it comes to the EPA’s proposed water regulations.
Look for the Democrats to take a few shots at Dorworth for defaulting on his mortgage in the amount of $1.5 million, for not paying tolls and having his drivers license suspended last year for lack of car insurance.
