Unemployment Mark Holds at 8.8 Percent in August

Employment in the Sunshine State held steady this summer, maintaining an 8.8 percent rate for the second month, according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on Friday.

While the percentage didn’t change, the August numbers included 28,000 new private-sector jobs, the largest month-to-month increase since April 2011, the state job agency reported.

More to come.
