After a 2012 focused on major long-term energy issues, the Legislature retreated a bit from high profile energy legislation this year, reports Jim Turner of the News Service of Florida. 

Instead, attention was more narrowly focused on altering existing laws regarding the construction of nuclear power plants and the use of ethanol in gas, and in offering some help for the natural gas market. 

And that, to some extent, is what is being sent to Gov. Rick Scott.

Four days before he appears on the ballot in a special election in South Bay, suspended city commissioner John Wilson pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor charge of violating Florida’s Sunshine Law.

The plea might actually enhance Wilson’s chances of returning to the commission dais.

St. Petersburg PBA endorses Darden Rice for City Council District 4

Darden Rice announced today she has received the endorsement of the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association. That’s the union which represents most of the city’s police officers.  The PBA all but put Bill Foster into the mayor’s office in 2009.
