House passes local workforce board reform
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida House voted Friday to give Gov. Rick Scott more power over regional workforce boards and put tighter contracting restrictions on them in response to reports that Workforce Central Florida may have skirted federal rules last year.
The bill, HB 7023, passed on a 95-19 votes over the objections of some Democrats who said it put too much local authority in the hands of Tallahassee politicians — the same thing ruling Republicans complain about Washington doing all the time.
