Jacksonville eyes deal to lease water taxis, hire temporary operator
Jacksonville officials drafted plans Thursday to buy two water taxis to continue a downtown river-crossing service scheduled to end Friday.
First envisioned as a way to keep the service uninterrupted, whether that will be possible remains very uncertain.
“We’re at the 11th hour. We really don’t have time for the story to change at all,” Chief Administrative Officer Karen Bowling told parks, purchasing and insurance officials meeting at the Mayor’s Office to recap progress.
