Moments after passage of redistricting maps, first lawsuit is launched
After months of polite posturing between Republican legislative leaders and the proponents of the Fair District redistricting amendments, the first shots were fired Thursday.
The Florida Senate gave their final seal of approval to the proposed political maps for the next decade and sent them off to the court and governor for review on a 32-5 vote. Moments later, the voter groups announced a lawsuit challenging the congressional map as unconstitutional.
