Navy vet declares for 6th District

WASHINGTON — Ron DeSantis, a Navy veteran from Ponte Vedra Beach, is jumping into a increasingly crowded U.S. House race for the redrawn Sixth District, which includes Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam counties.
A political newcomer, DeSantis, 33, boasts some sharp credentials. According to the announcement declaring his candidacy, DeSantis “worked his way through Yale University and Harvard Law School and then elected to serve his country as a JAG officer in the United States Navy.”
