Twenty years ago almost to the day, I was at the Don CeSar Hotel on St. Petersburg Beach presiding over a gubernatorial candidates forum. It was part of the Florida Press Association/Florida Society of Newspaper Editors 1994 annual convention.

This week, U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., faced fire both right and left for comments he made at the Berean Baptist Church in Ocala during the 2012 campaign. In a video that surfaced this week, Yoho said he was open to the idea of limiting voting to property owners.

Gov. Rick Scott sent out newly appointed Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera to South Florida on Friday to reach out to supporters in South Florida. Lopez-Cantera was in Stuart on Friday morning to speak at the Martin County Republican Party Breakfast. Later in the day, Lopez-Cantera reached out to the business community, speaking at the Okeechobee and Boca Raton business round tables.
