Public Policy Polling, a firm with ties to Democrats, released a poll this week that showed President Barack Obama maintaining a healthy lead in Minnesota over possible Republican candidates.

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville announced late Thursday afternoon that he is canceling the Quran-burning event scheduled for Saturday -- and added that a deal is in place to move a mosque farther away from its planned site a block and a half from where the World Trade Center stood.

Religious and political leaders from across the country and around the world continued Wednesday -- almost unanimously -- to condemn a planned Quran-burning event in Gainesville. "International Burn a Koran Day," to be led by Pastor Terry Jones from his evangelical World Outreach Center, is still scheduled for Saturday -- the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

For only the second time in his term, President Barack Obama addressed the American people from the Oval Office on Tuesday night, this time to talk about the end of combat operations in Iraq. He then turned to the war in Afghanistan and the economy.
