On Friday, incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, continued to name members of his leadership team -- tapping Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Ormond Beach, to serve as Republican conference chair and appointing two newly elected Republicans, Sen. Anitere Flores of Miami and Sen. David Simmons of Altamonte Springs, to serve as majority whips.

With Sen. Lee Constantine, R-Altamonte Springs, term-limited out of office, former Rep. David Simmons -- who served in the House from 2000 until 2008 -- is headed back to Tallahassee. Simmons is the only candidate who made the November ballot, keeping this seat -- which covers parts of Orange and Seminole counties -- in Republican hands.
