Billed as an off-gambling year in Florida politics, 2013 is anything but. Too much gambling-interest money is circulating, too much strategizing is going on.
With Florida’s pot expected to be light about $6 billion next year, backers of online gaming say the state could have an ace in the hole that would bring in hundreds of millions of dollars if the state has the guts to play it.
The Seminole casino compact will help South Florida's horse tracks, but, as expected, hobbles pari-mutuel facilities elsewhere around the state, industry insiders say.
