Rolling under the radar like a Stealth bomber, through committee after insurance committee, are HB 4087 and SB 1152 -- among the worst proposed legislation of the 2012 legislative session.
While many pundits believe that U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan has no interest in jumping into the Republican primary field to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, the congressman has left the door open -- and has taken to the airwaves to opine on the leading issues of the day.

Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, started his bid to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012 with a bang Thursday, bringing in around $1 million at a fund-raising event in Orlando.
Automakers would be granted more protection from lawsuit losses in crash cases under a measure that got its first committee hearing Tuesday in a battle pitting business groups and the Republican-led Legislature against trial attorneys.
An effort to reduce costs for property insurers set to emerge in the state Senate will closely mirror legislation vetoed earlier this year by Gov. Charlie Crist, but with a stronger push to reduce claims for sinkhole damage.

As the Senate readies for its special session on Tuesday, incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, named committee and subcommittee chairs.
Former RNC Chairman and U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez offered harsh words for fellow Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina in an interview with the Huffington Post.
Calling the measure unfriendly to consumers, Gov. Charlie Crist on Tuesday vetoed legislation backed by the insurance industry that, among other things, things would have allowed property insurance companies to more easily raise rates by up to 10 percent a year without going through the lengthy regulatory process.
Unsuccessful in attempts to scuttle property insurance changes pushed by the industry, the state’s trial lawyer organization is turning its attention to a potentially more sympathetic target: Gov. Charlie Crist.
The Florida Justice Association is asking the governor to veto SB 2044, an industry-backed property insurance package that, among other things, makes it easier for companies to raise rates and requires policyholders to prove they are replacing the items that have been destroyed.
A Senate committee voted Tuesday to allow private insurers to raise their residential property insurance rates.
The Senate General Government Appropriations Committee unanimously approved a measure by Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, to allow certain insurers to raise residential insurance by as much 10 percent and limit the power of the state Office of Insurance Regulation.
