The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced Thursday that because no oil has been spotted in the area for the last 30 days, it would reopen more than 26,000 miles of Gulf waters to fishing, effective at 6 p.m.

A new poll reveals Floridians are strongly opposed to President Barack Obama’s administration suing Arizona for its measures of cracking down on illegal immigration -- and want a similar law in Florida.

The Rasmussen Reports' poll of 500 likely voters across Florida found that 60 percent opposed the Obama administration’s legal challenge to Arizona, while 28 percent backed the lawsuit and 12 percent were undecided.

The Florida Renewable Energy Producers Association will be holding a forum in Orlando on July 14 and 15 and have invited the major candidates for governor, the U.S. Senate and agriculture and consumer services commissioner. Targeting Republican lawmakers who raised taxes and green-lighted the "Train to Nowhere," the TEA Party of Florida has nearly 20 legislative candidates on the fall ballot.

"We're going after some of the big boys -- Dean Cannon, Chris Dorworth, Bryan Nelson and Steve Precourt -- because they voted for (Central Florida's billion-dollar) SunRail. They're on the hitlist," Doug Guetzloe, a consultant for the new TEA Party, said Friday morning.
