They both believe boosting jobs and improving transportation along the Interstate 4 corridor are key issues for Florida’s 12th District. They also agree on states' rights when it comes to protecting our borders from the flood of illegal immigrants and shielding Floridians from health insurance mandates coming down from Washington bureaucrats.

Taking on most of  his fellow Republicans in the Sunshine State, U.S. Rep. Connie Mack reiterated his opposition to Florida passing an immigration law similar to the measure passed by Arizona earlier in the year.

With the push for an Arizona-style immigration law already playing a central role in the Republican primary for governor, a pair of Florida legislators Tuesday sought to add the issue to next week’s special session on oil drilling.

Sen. Paula Dockery, R-Lakeland, and Rep. Kevin Ambler, R-Tampa, unveiled measures that would make it a crime for aliens in Florida not to carry registration documents required by federal law, while authorizing state and local law enforcement officials to question the immigration status of residents.

A new poll reveals Floridians are strongly opposed to President Barack Obama’s administration suing Arizona for its measures of cracking down on illegal immigration -- and want a similar law in Florida.

The Rasmussen Reports' poll of 500 likely voters across Florida found that 60 percent opposed the Obama administration’s legal challenge to Arizona, while 28 percent backed the lawsuit and 12 percent were undecided.
