Throwing some cold water on casino fever, the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling says the state isn't addressing the addiction problems it has now.
Florida’s public schools and universities will take a more than $3 billion hit under the budget proposed Monday by Gov. Rick Scott, with public elementary through high school spending dropping by nearly $300 per student.

Gov. Rick Scott named a familiar face with experience in the department to head up the Florida Lottery on Wednesday, choosing Cynthia “Cindy” O’Connell to be its secretary.
