Republicans met in Washington this week to honor the 20th anniversary of the GOP winning the U.S. House in the 1994 elections and a former Florida congressman organized it. Former U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Fla., was the man behind reuniting his fellow Republicans who first won House seats in 1994.

In August 2011 Gov. Rick Scott first made it plain he likes toll lanes on major highways and wants more of them. They speed up traffic, he said. In October 2011, PolitiFact Florida checked out his assessment, rated it "mostly true."

Looking ahead to a possible presidential bid in 2016, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is playing up his foreign policy credentials. Rubio, a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, came out swinging at President Barack Obama and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday in an op-ed published in the Washington Post.
