Stories -- unconfirmed, but they're certainly stronger than rumor -- are coming out of Miami that Annette Taddeo, Charlie Crist's pick for lieutenant governor, is revving up to make a run for another elected office.

News broke this week that former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., was involved in creating a Florida-based private equity investment firm, Britton Hill Holdings LLC, last year. Bush joined with former bankers to launch the company which has focused in part on energy investments.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) met this week and, as usual, it had a distinctly Florida feel. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., was one of the featured speakers. Rubio, a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2016, focused on foreign policy, especially the crises in Ukraine and Venezuela. Veteran Republican strategist Matt Schlapp introduced Rubio.

If there are any doubts that former Gov. Charlie Crist intends to run for governor in 2014, the announcement this week that he is releasing a book -- "The Party's Over: How the Extreme Right Hijacked the GOP and I Became a Democrat" -- should end them.

On U.S. military intervention in Syria's civil war, where "both sides are slaughtering each other as they scream over an arbitrary red line 'Allahu akbar' ... I say let Allah sort it out." So said Sarah Palin to the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference. And, as is not infrequently the case, she nailed it.
