Florida senators held the first in a series of meetings Monday dealing with illegal immigration, with the goal of crafting legislation that will help the state enforce immigration laws and reduce social costs.
A cacophony of country music, pride and patriotism honored Florida’s armed services members Monday as part of the first day of events to herald Gov.-elect Rick Scott’s entry into office.

Florida will get at least one, and possibly two, more congressional districts after the U.S. Census data is released, but the state Legislature will decide where those new districts will be drawn on the map.
